Do I need a dance background? Do I need to be fit to start?
No background/experience is needed to start your aerial journey. Just a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Having a fitness or dance background will assist in how quickly you progress as an aerialist, however, it is not a necessity.
Do I have to be a certain size to be able to go on the pole/hoop/hammock? Is there a weight limit for pole/aerial sport?
Pole and aerial fitness/sport is suitable for persons of different shapes and sizes. Different sized hoops are recommended based on size and height but otherwise there are no restrictions due to size or weight.
What should I take to a pole fitness class?
A small gym towel, bottle of water and any grip aids you have along with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn!

For Sultry Flow and Floor Work classes, knee pads and socks add comfort to the experience.
What do I wear to class?
Athletic wear is required during classes. Sports bras or tank tops are appropriate.

Different pole levels will require different length bottoms for appropriate grips:
Pole 1 - short shorts (3" inseam) or biker shorts
Pole 2 - short shorts
Pole 3 - short shorts or bikini style pole bottoms
For aerial hoop, leggings are recommended to prevent fabric/tape burns.
For aerial hammock, leggings are recommended.

Tips for aerial fitness classes
Do
- keep an open mind, aerial fitness is not like any gym workout!
- be mindful if you are sharing equipment during a class.

Don't
- apply oil/lotion skin and palms for up to 24 hours before class.
- wear body jewellery to class.
How do I ensure that my spot is secure after booking a class?
Class spots are only secure if full payment has been made for the session at least 24 hours beforehand. Without payment it will be up to the instructor's discretion to have you removed from the session. This will allow for persons on the waitlist to be added to the session.
What happens to my class credits if I have to cancel a session that has already been paid for?
Class credits will be issued for future use where cancellations are made at least four hours ahead of the scheduled start of class. Credits will be held for cancellations made within four hours of class time.
What happens if I get to my session late?
Persons who arrive to a session more than 10 minutes late will not be permitted to join the scheduled session.

Each sessions begins with a full warm up to ensure each participant's safety, which is generally completed within the first 10 minutes of class.
How do I get off the waitlist and into a scheduled class?
Look out for notifications from us via email or the mobile app! Once you are notified, you have 15 minutes to book before the class becomes available to the next person on the list.
How do I book a private group class?
Use our Contact page to request a private Group session. Be sure to include the number of persons in your group, the date and the time you prefer.
What is the age limit for your studio?
We provide classes for ages 18 - 70 years old. Minors are welcome with the permission of a parent or legal guardian.
I'm afraid of falling off the pole/hoop, how do I get over this?
Confidence builds with every lesson! Your instructors will help you conquer the fear of falling with each class.

We also have crash mats and beds of different sizes to cushion your fall if the unexpected happens.
What do I do if I have very sweaty hands and can't stick to the pole?
Various grip aids are available to assist with gripping the pole. Some can be placed on the hands, other parts of the body or directly on the apparatus itself.

Dry Hand's liquid grip is available for purchase in studio. Other grip aids like the Mighty Grip gloves can be found on Amazon.
Are there different styles of pole dancing/fitness?
Yes, there are many different styles of pole. These include; artistic, pole sport and sensual/exotic.
At Ellani Aerial, our pole sessions will have a mixture of artistic/flowy and pole sport/pole strong. There will also be a focus on the exotic in our Sultry Flow sessions and Floor Work sessions.
Do you have to wear heels to pole dance?
Definitely not! Heels are encouraged for the Sultry Flow and Floor Work sessions, otherwise it is optional.
What is "Open Pole"?
Open pole is a one hour session created for the aerialist that wants to utilize the studio to focus on specific goals on their own time. There is no instructor for this session; just you, your lesson plan and the aerial equipment.
What is the process for replacing a key pass if I've lost/misplaced it?
Key passes are available for our premium members for ease of entry into the studio. If you misplace your key pass, please inform a team member as soon as possible. There is a $1,000 fee for replacements.
